People ARE People

People ARE People.   

It´s is easy to understand the rule (regla), "people" is a plural word,  like in the example: 

 The people ARE here. 

 However (sin embargo),  it´s much more difficult to remember the rule when you are speaking or writing, especially if Spanish is your native language.    You will always have the instinct to translate "la gente es" literally into English.   That´s why (por eso) this song can be very useful (útil).   The melody is very catchy (pegadiza) and after singing the song a few times I think it will be easier for you to remember that "people" is plural.

Personally this is one of my favorite Depeche Mode songs because of the lyrics.   I have always been sadly amazed by war and fighting and how humans can be so barbaric.    This song is from the album Some Great Reward which is also my favorite Depeche Mode album.    Other songs that I think are worth checking out (valen la pena escuchar) include Somebody, a very beautiful love song (and I usually HATE love songs), and Blasphemous Rumours which is about God and has the great line: "I don´t want to start any blasphemous rumours but I think that God has a sick sense of humour."   (No quiero empezar ningún rumor blasfemo pero creo que Dios tiene un sentido del humor muy retorcido)
